"And soon enough you'll hear the blacktop calling your name--; ;--Soon enough, your life will never be the same" [/b][/i][/right][/sup] A week, maybe more, he had been drifting, his blurred edges becoming defined once more as mana filled his soul. He awaked in a familar place, the people bustling, the shabby looking but sturdy housing with red tiling, the cobblestones beneath his spectre feet. Alexandria.
Filled with glee, he made his ghostly way through the town, taking in the happy memories that he had here. He was skipping beside a young girl (not that he could trip, could ghosts trip?) when he realsied why he had been drawn there. Dagger! recolection flooded him, the Caverns, The Waltz, the warning yet to give. He made to hurry off to the castle and found himself on his face. Yes, ghosts could in fact, trip.
Getting into Alexandria castle proved much simpler as a ghost, there was no need to sneak. You just made sure to stay in the sunlight so that nobody could see you. I wonder how much time I have left... Vivi thought absently as he began to search the castle.
He felt much lighter than before, perhaps it was knowing she was here, or maybe he was simply lightheaded from the fight with Three still. Yet still, he could almost not contain his joy to see her again. His friend, his Dagger-Mother! He had so many questions buzzing in his head.
He knew she could not answer him, that he would find it hard enough to warn her, but he couldnt help feeling strangely optimistic. First things first though, he had to find her.

Garnet’s brown eyes started at the stack of dusty papers that sat idly in the corner of her room. Those dreadful things were like chains binding her to this castle. Only when they were read, sorted and signed could she leave for a small break. Many times the queen thought of thrusting the work onto a servant, but she was far too nice to subject someone to such torture. The only solution to her problem was to work.
And so she did.
With pen in hand, Garnet went through the documents, signing her name over and over and over again. After the first hour, the work became unforced and almost natural. Her mind started to drift back in time, recalling her teenage days. The bright goldenrod eyes and sandy brown hat of Vivi was the first thing to play in the cinema of her memories. Words truly couldn’t explain how much she missed the little black mage. She wished she could have said a proper goodbye to him before he left her, but that was impossible. After all, he was..
Mother...he'll hurt you
Her heart fluttered, and her eyes darted to every corner of the room, looking for someone she knew would not be there. “Vivi?” She whispered, half expecting to hear an answer. No. That was impossible. After all, Vivi was dead. Pushing herself away from the desk, Garnet stood and began to wander the castle. Those papers in her room would simply have to wait another few weeks for her.
As began to climb down the small spiral staircase, she saw movement from the corner of her eye. Once again she had the urge to call out the name of the dead mage, but stopped. “Get it together Garnet…”

Vivi found her behind a pile of paperwork. She seemed bored, and he did not doubt she was, being chained to a desk had never been a thing Vivi could imagine her doing. He somehow, had thought she would never age, never outgrow the adventurous youth she had always been, strong willed and full of heart. Yet here she sat, her still youthful face tight with the worries of government, going through the motions of a queen. He knew she itched to be rid of it. to don the jumpsuit and lose herself to adventure once more. It was in her nature, just as it was in her nature to honer her commitments.
He realized he had been staring at her for quite some time, and shook his head, trying to think of a way to pass his message on from across the grave. "Oh, if I don't find a way soon... Who knows how long it will take him to find out. Dagger, I need to tell you... Oh! Mother...He'll hurt you!"
Garnets head snapped up, ,looking around the room and Vivi blinked his golden eyes in confusion. She can hear me? Vivi watched, slightly dazed as Garnet pushed away from the table and left the room. she can hear me! Vivi jumped and straightened his hat with both hands. "Right, here I go!" He cried to nobody in general, and began making his ghostly bob after her.
Vivi chased her down the stairs, waving his ghostly hand in front of her face. "Grrrr! Dagger, open your ears!" He yelled at her, when she seemed unable to hear him and then found himself tumbling back wards down the last few steps, landing with an "oof" in a heap at the bottom. The disturbance caused by his fall, however ghostly it may be, caused a pile of boxes by him to fall over and spill their fruit and veg contents all over the foyer floor.
Vivi blinked and straightened his hat as he watched potatoes and tomato's roll away in all directions. "Woops..." he said.

She placed a white gloved hand on either side of her head and rubbed lightly, trying her best to will away the strange occurrences that her mind was creating. Of all the things, of all the people that had left from this world in the past ten years, why did Vivi plague her thoughts? It would have made more sense to her if Brahne’s voice was the one haunting her.“Get it together…” she repeated once more. With a shake of her long brown mane Garnet picked up the hem of her flowing dress, and began to make her way outside. The fresh hair seemed like the only remedy for her right now.
But before she could go on, she felt something come into contact with the back of her dress. Garnet turned around to investigate and found nothing but a single red tomato sitting on the ground before her. Despite how ‘unqueenly’ it may seem, she knelt down on the red carpeted floor and took the crimson fruit in her hand, wondering how it had managed to free itself from the crate near the staircase. Upon further inspection, Garnet realized that it was not just one tomato that had escaped, but a multitude of them as well as a number of potatoes.
The crate that held them was obviously tipped over, as if it had been kicked or something. But that wasn’t what the queen was looking at right now. Instead her brown eyes were affixed to the ghostly apparition standing before her. Those bright yellow eyes and blue traveler’s coat was unmistakable. Vivi, although slightly transparent, was standing right before her. Garnet’s mouth fell agape, and her heart once again began to flutter in her chest like a bird in flight. “Oh my…Vivi!?” Her voice was breathless, and hardly rose above a whisper. Was her mind playing tricks on her again? Or was the little mage really standing before her just as he had over ten years ago?
She tried to blink away the image of her old friend but to no avail. Once again she shook her head. “I’m going mad.” [/b] She said as she pushed herself up from plush red carpet. “Signing all those papers day and night is doing this to me.” Despite that, she couldn’t help but glance at the Vivi Ghost again before picking up the hem of her dress and bustling off. The darkness is what hides, they say, and the light that reveals. But on a sunny day, when the heat of light becomes unbearable in its warm caress and reminder of happier times, look into the shadows, as Garnet was, and you may see loving eyes lost to time, every guarding, ever watching.
Vivi felt a familiar prickling behind his lambent eyes and blinked away his spectre tears. There would be a time for that later. She was gazing at him, her muddy pools tinted with the grace of grief and the suspicion of madness.
Dust particles swirled around her in the light breeze of the day, like the mana he knew swirled brightly within her, the sunlight casting a halo behind her dark locks. He wondered how long she had gone unpracticed in her art, was it now almost lost to her, like Eiko? Or had she been more sensible than to allow times of peace and paperwork make her weak?
He reached out to her, his fingertips grazing the sunlight and disappearing in its depths. He withdrew, clutching his hand to his chest and staring back at her. This was how it was now, how it always should have been, she stood in the light, as it loved and caressed her, and he was forever doomed to the shadows, never able to stand beside her again. Oh, how he longed to clutch those finely woven skirts as she whispered soothing words once more. Yet his friend, his Dagger-mother was lost to him forever.
He saw the uncertainty, the slight shake of her head, saw her mouth form the word. "Mad. Yes, he was driving her mad, taking her sanity and warping it with his very presence. As he had with Eiko, as he would with them all if he was allowed to stay near them. Visions of him would haunt their dreams, allowing the sickness to enter their minds and push them to the brink of their selves.
She turned from him.
He should not have come.
And yet...
And yet....
"HE'LL HURT YOU MOTHER!" The cry shook him to the very core as it left his phantom lips, a part of him hoped she would not hear, and another begged that she would. Another crate chose that moment to explode, sending tomatoes everywhere. Vivi trembled and his vision wavered. He was a soul, he was mana incarnate, he was power and the sleep dust left by dreams and a memory. Always a memory. He had died, but he would never stop living. The Third Waltz still walked Gaia's surface, and so long as it did, Vivi would be a restless spirit, ever waiting, relentless in his guardianship of those he loved. He would give himself to anger and regret and the stench of death if only to protect them.

Before she reached the foyer that lead out to the river, Garnet cast one last hopeful glance over her shoulder. She had heard his voice. There was no doubt about it. Biting down on her lip, she softly squeezed the ruffles of her dazzling white dress. “Should I go back…?” Garnet asked herself uncertainly. If she did decide to return and investigate further, she was slightly afraid of what she would find. Would it be a good thing? Or would she find something that was horrible? Sighing, she shook her head. Why was she even pondering about this? There was no other choice but to go back. Vivi was her dear friend…she owed that much to him right?
The queen turned back and headed towards the spiral staircase. “Vivi? Can you hear me?”
(sorry it is short my dear)
