Full Name: Kuja
Nickname(s): Angel of Death, Lord King
Custom Title .Angel.of.Death.
Age: 34
Sex: Male
Race: Genome
Sexual Orientation:PROBABLY PRETTY GAY Not particular.
Place of Birth: Terra
Current Location: Gaia
General Appearance: Kuja isn't exactly the most imposing figure -- quite the opposite, as he probably actually looks very feminine at first glance. Long, wildly wavy, silvery hair falls down to the middle of his back, always looking light, feathery, and well-cared-for. It probably looks feathery because he actually does have feathers in it -- a silver few sprouting in the middle of his hairline, stiffly erect like a cockatiel's crest. His face is unblemished, agelessly beautiful, and not entirely masculine, either -- Kuja's red eyeshadow doesn't exactly scream manly -- but his twisted desires are always clear on his expression. His narrowed blue eyes are devoid of innocence, as are the thin lips that are always curled up in a smile -- or sneer. The rest of his body is just as perfectly unmarred, slender and very much on display, but while he clearly hasn't seen much close-quarters combat, he's also not as delicate as his pretty face would imply; Kuja has the muscles of a bird, most prominent in his strong legs and abdomen, and though he regards physical exertion with great disdain, he's more than capable of great feats of athleticism. Somewhere on his person, he's got a long, fluffy tail the same color as his hair, but it's usually hidden via magical means; it's only really visible when Kuja goes Trance, as that's when he loses all restraint.
In Trance, Kuja turns as red as the planet he used to call home. Blood-red fur covers most of his body, with only bare patches on his legs, arms, and back; his hair turns messy and wild, his crest-feathers grow exponentially, his eyes turn red, and his tail, longer than his body, becomes fully visible. Kuja's clothes turn tattered from the explosion of energy that Trance brings about, and his finely-painted nails turn to sharp, red claws. He's a beast.
When he's not going psycho, Kuja's usual taste in clothing is both practical and fashionable. He loves flair, he loves flamboyance, and he seems to like things that emphasize his belligerent nature. His military-style jacket is purple with gold trim, hinting at royalty and wealth, and its epaulettes are composed of swirling bands of metal, too much like armor to be mere decorations. Long, airy sleeves give away his status as a sorcerer, as does the gold-trimmed length of silk he drapes around his hips. His midsection and most of his thighs are bare, with only a thick codpiece covering the essential parts, and his knee-length boots of black leather and sectioned steel seem just as suited for nobility as they do for a man of war. Occasionally, he'll bear some adornments on his wrists or hands, such as bracelets or glove-like accessories that match the rest of his outfit, but he's also been seen without them.

Trance:
History: Kuja is one of the many Genomes created by Garland, meant to speed along the process of Terra's assimilation of planet Gaia. His birth was something of an accident; Genomes are not meant to possess souls, as they are meant to be vessels for Terran souls once Gaia was fully annexed. Kuja, however, had a will of his own, and his self-identity caused him to become mortal. Garland considered destroying him because of this "defect," but instead decided to use him as a tool to speed along the assimilation. Thus, Kuja was sent to Gaia to cause as much death and destruction as possible.
Because Kuja possessed his own soul, he turned out to be far more powerful than any other Genome created; however, Garland still considered him an imperfect prototype, and immediately started on plans to create a more powerful Genome to replace him. Feeling threatened by the thought of his own expiration, jealous Kuja kidnapped the child Genome and took him to Gaia, where he left him to die. Unfortunately for Kuja, the child Genome was found by a man named Baku, who raised him as his own son -- Zidane Tribal.
Unaware that his brother survived, Kuja continued to serve as Garland's "Angel of Death," supplying legions of Black Mages to the powerhungry Queen Brahne to feed her ambitions for war. He used the queen to extract Eidolons from Garnet and others, which only caused more death and destruction. Eventually, Brahne doublecrossed Kuja, attacking him with the Eidolon Bahamut. Bahamut hardly even landed a scratch, though, and Kuja took advantage of the opportunity to take control of the Eidolon, thus using it to annihilate Brahne's fleet and indirectly cause the queen's death. Her soul is the catalyst that triggers Kuja's ability to achieve Trance.
Later, Kuja summoned Bahamut to destroy the Kingdom of Alexandria, but Garnet and Eiko called forth the kingdom's guardian Eidolon, Alexander, to defend them. Alexander destroyed Bahamut, and an impressed Kuja decided to take control of Alexander instead. His efforts were interrupted by Garland, who used the airship The Invincible to destroy both the kingdom of Alexandria and its guardian Eidolon. Kuja got pissed off and left. Zidane and his group followed, only to be captured by Kuja and coerced into helping him get to Mount Gulug, where he attempted to extract Eidolons from Eiko. He failed miserably and they escaped, but Kuja figured out how to use his Trance form (EMOTIONS!) and became uber powerful or something.
SO THEN Zidane and company made their way to Terra, where they confronted Garland after finding out the truth about Zidane and Kuja. Kuja showed up and punted Garland off a balcony, sending him to his death, then entered Trance and beat the crap out of the entire party. Then Garland's voice reached Kuja from beyond the grave, revealing that he is, in fact, very mortal, and was only meant to exist until Zidane became of age; the truth caused Kuja to go insane, and in his fit of madness he destroyed Terra.
Kuja returned to Gaia to destroy it as well, summoning Deathguise and then Necron in order to end all life. Both summons are defeated by Zidane, and Kuja is defeated as well. Exhausted of his strength, and having finally accepted his own demise, Kuja uses the last of his magic to transport Zidane's group outside of the Iifa Tree to allow them to escape its collapse. The rest of the group go, but Zidane returns to Kuja to save him; in their last moments together, Kuja expresses regret for everything he's done, and Zidane comforts him until he closes his eyes. As the tree's roots engulfs them both, Zidane covers Kuja's body with his own to protect him, and neither is seen again for quite some time. Zidane does, in fact, manage to survive, and returns home to Queen Garnet; Kuja's fate, on the other hand, is never made known.
-Mistless-
After his defeat at the hands of Zidane, Kuja resigned himself to death and presumed that once he lost consciousness, it would all be over. Fortunately or unfortunately, Kuja seemed to be every bit as difficult to kill as his brother; perhaps it was due to Zidane defeating Necron, or perhaps Kuja was naturally this durable, but he, too, managed to escape the Iifa Tree with his life. Upon waking, he found himself confused, alone, and utterly lost, and without Zidane to guide him in the world that should have forsaken him, Kuja was unable to function. By will alone he managed to find someplace for him to take shelter -- his old Desert Palace, or the ruins of it at least. Isolated from the rest of Gaia, Kuja could do little but rot in his own remorse; he could not think of attempting a new life in Gaia, as his brother did, since half of him still strongly felt that he had no place in the world -- and the other half, as Garland intended, still had an irresistable inclination towards destruction. With his mental state still so delicate after learning of his mortality, Kuja also found himself fretting over when the time would come that he would Stop, if it ever would. Alone in the tempest of thoughts and emotions that were all he had left, and without anyone to talk to, much less to guide him, Kuja's mind slowly eroded away -- until, after ten years, he's very much gone mad. Either his inhibitions have gone the way of his mind, or something inside him is telling him he really does need help, but out of a compulsion to find Zidane, Kuja finally emerged from his lair, a hollow shell of his former self, and set off towards Alexandria.
Abilities/Skills: Kuja's powers mainly revolve around casting spells, but he also has some interesting attributes that give him an edge in battle. He has the capability to take control of various monsters, including dragons, and can use them as both steeds and weapons. In addition to his powerful magic, it is difficult to actually injure him; even some of the most powerful Eidolons are unable to land a scratch on him, and his quick, agile flying makes him a very difficult target to hit. If not for his extreme overconfidence, he would truly be a nightmarish opponent -- however, he tends to take a great many gambles, and luck isn't always on his side.
When in battle, Kuja surrounds himself with five glowing orbs that circle him as he floats. It is through these orbs that he both attacks and defends himself. Lastly, when Kuja experiences an extreme surge of emotion, he enters Trance; his physical appearance drastically changes, and both his defensive and offensive powers are amplified exponentially. Trance doesn't last forever, though, and once it is broken, the resulting exhaustion leaves Kuja extremely vulnerable.

This...was not as he had intended.
The play was not supposed to continue past the antagonist's death. Once his role in the story had been finished, once his last lines were spoken, it was supposed to end there. The villain had lost, the hero would go home to his queen and get married and live happily ever, and it would end. The Iifa Tree's flailing roots descending upon him was supposed to be the finale -- when he closed his eyes, that was the curtains' fall, and he was content to submit to eternal silence in lieu of a standing ovation. He'd done his part. Left his mark on the world. Ended. Finished. Finito.
So why am I still here..?[/i]
Mentally, it was as if he'd only gone to sleep for a short time, but his body ached as if he'd slept for a millennia. Just the act of opening his eyes felt like an impossible task; they slid open to thin slits, long eyelashes affording little protection against the blazing sun's punishing rays, and shut tightly again after only a few seconds. One thing at a time -- if his body still needed to recover, he'd have to take it slow. Still, the nagging question of where am I? stuck in his head, keeping him impatient. In his blinded state, he resorted to testing his limbs one by one, seeking out and taking note of any and all injuries. Surprisingly, almost all of them seemed to be fairly minor...
Is this the afterlife? Another world? Have I been reincarnated?[/i]
His silvery tail flicked sorely at his command, dashing those questions to silence. As far as he could tell, he was still himself, still in his own body, and as reassuring as that might have been...
As much as he feared his own mortality, he simply couldn't comprehend why fate allowed him to live.
Wincing with the effort, Kuja forced himself to sit up, blinking his eyes back open. His surroundings were unfamiliar to him; the remains of the Iifa Tree were nowhere in sight, and nor were there any signs of civilization whatsoever. Funny -- all things considered, he ought to have been dozens of feet underground by now. But the cruel heat and light of the sun defied his logic, and he was left trying to remember what exactly happened in his last moments -- what he thought were his last moments -- to figure out how he'd ended up here. There was pain -- endless pain -- the crushing feeling of defeat, remorse -- and Zidane...
His hand reached up to wipe the crust of sleep from his eyes. The only logical conclusion he could think of was that Zidane succeeded in rescuing him, despite his wishes against that, but why his brother would dump him in the middle of some barren wasteland was beyond him. Either this was yet another facet of Zidane that he would never be able to comprehend, or something else had happened that resulted in his abandonment here; regardless, he was alone, and if the heat didn't get to him first...
Honestly, Zidane, if this is your idea of getting back at me, I don't blame you. He had, after all, done the same to his brother all those years ago. But that seemed so very unlike Zidane, and all of that seemed so unimportant in comparison with his current need to quench his thirst; whether he approved of it or not, he was still alive, and the acceptance -- expectation -- of his own demise was lost on him now. A few moments longer of rest, and he finally resolved to stand, calling his magic spheres to aid in that effort. If Death himself could be defeated, there was absolutely no way that Kuja would allow himself to succumb to something as primitive as thirst.
He was alive. He did not agree to this, but the choice was not his to make; Fate had given him a new script, and he couldn't very well turn it down. Perhaps this was not the finale afterall -- merely the end of act one. He...
He could accept that.

Trance doesn't last forever, though, and once it is broken, the resulting exhaustion leaves Kuja extremely vulnerable.
- Flare Star: A fire-based attack that hails several fireballs down upon an opponent.
- Snatch Blow: Uses the five magical orbs to strike the opponent multiple times, dealing both physical and magical damage.
- Ring Holy: Magical rings of energy are sent hurdling towards the opponent. They are somewhat difficult to dodge as they home in on the opponent, but they are fairly slow-moving, and they are easily deflected -- Kuja himself can be hurt by them.
- Remote Flare: An instant spell that can cause magical explosions within a short distance. Their appearance is extremely abrupt, and as such the enemy has a very small window of opportunity to dodge them.
- Reflect: A relatively strong defensive spell that puts up a magic wall around Kuja's body. While physical attacks can still penetrate the wall, any sort of magic spell, whether it be an attacking spell, status ailment, status buffer, or healing spell, is reflected back at the caster. When any such spell is reflected, Kuja's Reflect shatters, and he is made vulnerable to spells once more.
- Curaga: An extremely powerful White Magic spell that allows Kuja to heal even very dire physical wounds, either his own or the wounds of others.
- Ultima: His most powerful attack, used only as a last resort; the amount of destruction caused by this spell is inconceivable, and death is almost certain for anyone who gets caught up in its range. Because this ability is so powerful, it can only be used while in Trance form, and only in the most dire of circumstances (i.e. facing death).
- White & Black Magic In addition to the skills listed above, Kuja has proven himself to be infinitely talented in magic as a whole, both White and Black. He has used unnamed abilities in the past to create Black Mages, Mistodons, and other monsters, and can manipulate Mist and monsters born fron Mist; he was even able to summon the Eidolon personification of Death itself, Necron, by force of will alone. As it's impossible to accurately describe or even name everything that Kuja is capable of doing with his magic, it can be safely said that his only limitations are his own physical limitations; despite his power, he can be worn down to exhaustion, especially if he's pushed into Trance.
